We are the South Wigston Methodist Theatre Co., better known by our initials, SWM.

The group is made up mainly from church members, but includes quite a few 'outsiders'!

The group produces two shows every year - a 'musical' in the summer, and a traditional pantomime at Christmas.

The venue for these shows is the theatre at Guthlaxton College, Station Road, Wigston and we enjoy a good relationship with their performing arts department. Productions by the college students in which we have been involved are 'Les Miserables', 'West Side Story' and 'Blood Brothers'.

South Wigston Methodist Church is the 'headquarters' for the group.
The Church provides rehearsal and storage facilities to meet the group's needs.

We produce all our own sets, drawing on our scenery stocks which are added to and/or amended as necessary for each show.  Many of our sets are composite split-level sets, often using mobile scenery on trucks. We have our own 'sound' man who may use up to a dozen or more radio mikes.

Over the years, we have amassed a large collection of props and costumes which we are prepared to hire out to other groups. (and we don't charge the earth! )

If you would like more information, or would like to join our group, you can e-mail us at enquiries@swmtheatreco.com
